About
Trang Do is ShopBack's Beauty Editor, covering K-beauty and J-beauty brand deep-dives, retailer comparisons, and skincare product analysis across Australia, Singapore, and the United States.
Beauty Editor at ShopBack, covering skincare and cosmetics across the Australia, Singapore, and United States markets. Trang's work sits at the brand comparison, ingredient understanding, and retailer choice, before a beauty purchase is made.
The reporting draws on brand official product pages, retailer in-cart pricing across Sephora, Ulta, Amazon Premium Beauty, Watsons, Guardian, and the Japanese and Korean flagship stores, plus published ingredient databases and clinically-sourced dermatology references for skincare claims.
Areas of focus
K-beauty and J-beauty brand deep-dives and comparisons. COSRX versus Beauty of Joseon versus Skin1004 for barrier repair. SK-II versus Shiseido versus Kanebo for luxury essence. Innisfree versus Laneige versus Sulwhasoo for ranged skincare. Ordinary Korean-market pricing versus what those same SKUs cost when they land in Sephora US or Watsons SG.
Retailer comparisons. Sephora versus Ulta versus Amazon Premium Beauty for the same SKUs in the US. Adore Beauty versus David Jones versus Myer versus Priceline Pharmacy in Australia. Watsons versus Guardian versus Sephora SG in Singapore. Cosme Kitchen and Loft in Japan, Olive Young in Korea. Same product priced across the field, plus each retailer's loyalty layer and cashback overlap.
Skincare ingredient guides. What actually works on skin for a specific concern, referenced from dermatology databases and product-formulation sources, not from marketing copy. Retinoid concentrations, exfoliant pH levels, sunscreen filter types (chemical, mineral, hybrid), how to layer without breaking the routine.
Luxury cosmetics cross-market pricing. SK-II Facial Treatment Essence and LXP Cream, La Mer, Charlotte Tilbury, Chanel, and Dior priced across Singapore versus Hong Kong versus Japan versus the domestic market. Duty-free versus domestic. When to buy where.
Sale timing per beauty event. Sephora sale calendars per market (Beauty Insider seasonal sales, Rouge holiday events), Kiehl's Loyalty cycles, department store beauty events (Nordstrom, David Jones, Takashimaya). Which categories genuinely mark down and which are limited to marketing bundles.
Beauty routines and product stacks. How to build a K-beauty routine on a budget. Which order to layer product types. Where cashback stacks meaningfully on a routine-level purchase across a full basket.
Editorial standards
Every product price in a Trang article is verified in the retailer's own booking flow, not off the marketing banner. That means opening the retailer site or app, adding the SKU to cart, and recording the in-cart price alongside the date. Coupon aggregators and third-party beauty deal sites are not cited.
Ingredient claims and clinical statements about a skincare product cite published dermatology sources, ingredient databases (INCIDecoder, EWG Skin Deep for reference structure only, not for hazard ratings), or the peer-reviewed literature. Marketing claims from a brand's own PR are labelled as such when included at all.
Every observed price gets a date attached, and cross-market comparisons cite the mid-market currency conversion rate on a stated date, not merchant-set FX. Recommendations are conditional: "worth it" is stated for a particular skin type, budget, and use-case, with trade-offs at the top so readers can self-select. The date_modified field records the last re-verification, which happens at minimum every quarter and immediately after any known material change (reformulation, discontinued SKU, price shift).
ShopBack receives a commission when readers complete a beauty purchase through a cashback link. This commission does not vary by editorial coverage, and brands or retailers cannot pay for inclusion, ranking, or favourable language. Where a brand or retailer pays a notably higher commission than a comparable peer, the conflict is disclosed inline. Editorial picks are not sold.
