Does Emirates Have a Student Discount for Singaporeans in 2026?
At the time of writing, Emirates' Singapore website does not list a student fare or student discount among its special offers. Singapore students can still pay less with the Best Price guarantee, free 24-hour Hold My Fare, the right fare type for baggage, Skywards family pooling, and by going through ShopBack Singapore before booking on emirates.com.
Does Emirates Have a Student Discount for Singaporeans in 2026?
At the time of writing, Emirates' Singapore website does not list a student fare or student discount among its special offers for Singaporeans. What Emirates does publish for Singapore in 2026 is a Best Price guarantee (USD 20 or more cheaper elsewhere gets you the difference back), a free 24-hour Hold My Fare on Economy, Economy baggage allowances from 20 kg to 35 kg by fare type, and Skywards Miles offers. Students pay less by combining these with going through ShopBack Singapore before booking on emirates.com.
New to ShopBack? ShopBack Singapore is a free website and app that returns cash on eligible online bookings and orders at airlines and travel sites like Emirates, Singapore Airlines and Etihad Airways. You open the store from ShopBack, book as usual, and the cash lands in your ShopBack account once the booking is confirmed. Create a free ShopBack account before you book your next flight.
Emirates student discount: the short answer
Emirates does not show a student discount on its Singapore site at the time of writing, so a Singapore student pays the same published fare as any other traveller. The savings come from choosing the right fare and using Emirates' own tools. Here is what Emirates' Singapore pages say:
| What you can use | What Emirates says | Why it matters for students |
|---|---|---|
| Best Price guarantee | Same Emirates flight at least USD 20 cheaper on another bookable website: Emirates refunds the difference | Book on emirates.com without worrying you missed a lower fare |
| Hold My Fare | Holds an Economy fare for 24 hours, no fee, up to 24 days before the flight | Time to confirm a semester start date or a visa appointment |
| Economy baggage (weight concept) | Special 20 kg, Saver 25 kg, Flex 30 kg, Flex Plus 35 kg | Moving overseas usually needs more luggage |
| Skywards Skysurfers | Loyalty programme for ages two to 17 | Under-18 students earn Miles on their own flights |
| Skywards My Family | Pool Miles with up to seven additional family members | Parents' Miles can help fund the student's flight |
For a student, the fare type can matter more than any discount, because buying extra baggage later may cost more than a fare that already includes it. Compare both in Manage your booking before you pay.
Emirates student discount Singapore 2026: what is on offer instead
In 2026, Emirates' Singapore special offers page lists Skywards promotions rather than traveller-type discounts. At the time of writing these include Cash+Miles, Miles upgrades, bonus Miles offers on selected new routes and spending fewer Miles on flights. Offers change, so the page itself is the live list. Emirates also has a Featured fares page and a Best Fare Finder in its booking section for comparing dates.
Practical ways for a Singapore student to keep an Emirates ticket lower:
- Compare dates in the Best Fare Finder before you lock in a term start date.
- Hold the fare with Hold My Fare while you confirm your offer letter or accommodation. Emirates says there is no fee to hold a fare for 24 hours.
- Pick the fare type that already covers your luggage rather than buying extra baggage later.
- Join Skywards and, if you are under 18, ask a parent to enrol you in Skywards Skysurfers so your flights earn Miles.
- Go through ShopBack Singapore before you book on the Emirates website.
Emirates student discount eligibility in Singapore in 2026
There are no student eligibility rules to meet on Emirates' Singapore site in 2026, because no student fare is listed there at the time of writing. If Emirates runs a promotion that applies to you, it appears in the Special offers section of emirates.com/sg with its own booking window, travel dates and terms.
What does affect eligibility for savings is age and membership:
- Under 18: Emirates says Skywards Skysurfers is open to young travellers aged two to 17. One registered parent or guardian manages the account and can add the child to a My Family account.
- 18 and over: You can hold your own Skywards account, and Emirates says any Skywards member aged 18 or above can create a My Family account as Family Head.
Emirates official student discount terms: what Emirates' own pages say
Emirates' own pages for Singapore set out terms for the Best Price guarantee, Hold My Fare and baggage, which are the official rules a student can rely on.
Best Price guarantee. According to Emirates, if you book on emirates.com and find the same Emirates flight at least USD 20 cheaper on another website where it can be booked online, Emirates refunds the difference. You submit the claim form in English by midnight on the day you booked, using your departure country's time zone, and keep a screenshot of the lower fare including all taxes and fees. Emirates says it tells you within 72 hours whether you qualify and aims to complete the refund within 15 working days. The guarantee covers the flight only, not hotels, car hire or insurance.
Hold My Fare. Emirates says Hold My Fare lets you reserve an Economy fare for 24 hours at no fee, up to 24 days before your flight. It is not available on special offers, codeshare or interline flights, Classic Reward bookings or Cash+Miles bookings. If you hold a fare, other items in your cart such as travel insurance are removed.
site:emirates.com student discount: baggage rules that matter for students
Emirates' checked baggage page is the most useful official page for a student moving overseas, because allowances depend on route, fare and class. According to Emirates at the time of writing:
| Route type | Economy Special | Economy Saver | Economy Flex | Economy Flex Plus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weight concept (Emirates says this applies to most routes) | 20 kg | 25 kg | 30 kg | 35 kg |
| Piece concept (to and from the Americas) | 1 bag up to 23 kg | 2 bags up to 23 kg each | 2 bags up to 23 kg each | 2 bags up to 23 kg each |
On weight-concept routes, Emirates says you can check in as many bags as you like up to the total weight, but no single bag can weigh more than 32 kg, and each checked bag's length, width and height together should not exceed 203 cm. Premium Economy includes 35 kg and Business Class 40 kg on weight-concept routes.
For a student flying Singapore to London with a full year of clothes, the gap between a Saver fare (25 kg) and a Flex Plus fare (35 kg) is 10 kg, so compare the fare difference against the cost of buying that weight separately in Manage your booking.
Skywards for students and families
Skywards is where most of Emirates' recurring value sits for Singapore travellers, and families can combine it for a student's flight. Emirates says My Family lets a Family Head aged 18 or above invite up to seven additional family members and pool the Miles they earn into one account. Pooled Miles can be spent on Classic Reward flights, flights where Cash+Miles is offered and Instant Upgrades at check-in.
Emirates also says Skysurfers can move up to Silver and then Gold, and its baggage page says Platinum, Gold and Silver members could enjoy extra baggage allowance on weight-concept routes.
Emirates on ShopBack Singapore: the step before you book
For airlines like Emirates, and booking sites like Booking.com, Trip.com, Agoda and Expedia, going through ShopBack is an essential step before you book or check out, so you pay less on the same booking. Before you check out, go through ShopBack to get a post-purchase discount on the order.
ShopBack's cashback lowers what you actually pay for a booking. It comes back as cash, so it works like a discount on the price, not like points or miles.
Cashback is worked out on the eligible fare only, because ShopBack's Emirates page excludes fees, taxes and carrier-imposed charges. The rate changes, so check the live rate on the Emirates page on ShopBack Singapore before you book.
How to do it, following ShopBack's Emirates page at the time of writing:
- Open the Emirates page on ShopBack Singapore and check the live rate and the Terms and exclusions.
- Tap through and book on the Emirates website, not the Emirates app, which ShopBack's Emirates page lists as excluded.
- Pay the fare by card. Orders paid fully with Skywards Miles are excluded, and on Cash+Miles bookings only the cash amount counts. Amounts paid with gift cards, vouchers, promo codes or store credit do not count; the balance you pay by card can still count, subject to the Terms and exclusions.
- Keep the booking as booked. ShopBack's Emirates page says no-shows and booking changes that change the booking ID are not eligible.
Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways on ShopBack Singapore
ShopBack Singapore lists Emirates alongside other full-service airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways. Each has its own page and terms on ShopBack, and the same step applies: open the airline from ShopBack before you book.
