Lenovo Legion 5 or 5i: Which Should I Buy in Singapore in 2026?

In Singapore in 2026, buy the Lenovo Legion 5 if you want longer battery life away from a plug, and the Legion 5i if you want more processor power for streaming, editing or compiling. The Legion 5 uses AMD Ryzen chips and the 5i uses Intel Core chips. According to Lenovo's spec sheets, both share 115W GeForce RTX 50 series graphics, 165Hz 15 inch screens and two DDR5 memory slots.

Lenovo Legion 5 or 5i: which should I buy?

The short answer: the letter i means Intel, and that one difference decides most of the rest. Lenovo's own Product Specifications Reference (PSREF) sheets, at the time of writing, show the two laptops share the same chassis family, screen options, graphics cards and memory layout. What changes is the processor, and with it the battery life, the fastest port and how many graphics options you get.

What matters	Legion 5 (AMD)	Legion 5i (Intel)
Processor, per Lenovo	AMD Ryzen 7 260 (8 cores, 16 threads, up to 5.1GHz) or Ryzen AI 7 350 (8 cores, up to 5.0GHz)	Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX (20 cores) or Core Ultra 9 275HX (24 cores); older 15IRX10 uses Core i7 or i9 HX
Graphics, per Lenovo	GeForce RTX 5050 or 5060 at 115W (15AHP10); RTX 5070 at 115W added on 15AKP10	GeForce RTX 5050, 5060 or 5070 at 115W
Battery life, per Lenovo (80Wh, MobileMark 30 at 250 nits)	5.6 hours (15AHP10), 5.7 hours (15AKP10)	4.4 hours (15IAX10), 4.2 hours (15IRX10)
Fastest port	USB4 40Gbps USB-C	Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 40Gbps on 15IAX10; USB-C 10Gbps on 15IRX10
Starting weight	1.9 kg (OLED), 2.1 kg (IPS)	1.9 kg (OLED), 2.1 kg (IPS)
Best for	Students, commuters, gamers who mostly play plugged in	Streamers, video editors, coders, buyers who want RTX 5070

Pick the Legion 5 (AMD) if you carry the laptop to lectures or the office and want it to last longer unplugged. Lenovo's own MobileMark 30 test puts the 80Wh Legion 5 15AHP10 at 5.6 hours, against 4.4 hours for the Legion 5i 15IAX10. That gap of a little over an hour is the clearest practical difference between the two.

Pick the Legion 5i (Intel) if you run heavy work alongside games. Lenovo lists the Core Ultra 9 275HX in the 5i with 24 cores, against 8 cores on the Ryzen 7 260 in the Legion 5. More cores usually help with video exports, game streaming while playing, and code builds. The 15IAX10 also has a Thunderbolt 4 port, useful for fast docks and external drives.

For pure gaming, the graphics card matters more than the letter. Both laptops list the GeForce RTX 5050 and RTX 5060 Laptop GPUs at the same 115W power limit, according to Lenovo. Choose the GPU tier first, then the processor brand.

Lenovo Legion: the range at a glance

Lenovo Legion is Lenovo's gaming brand, and the Legion 5 sits in the middle of the laptop line. Above it are the Legion 7 and the flagship Legion 9i; below it is the entry level LOQ range. The Legion 5 is the usual pick for buyers who want a 15 inch gaming laptop that can also handle school or office work.

Within the Legion 5 name there are several models at once, and Lenovo's model codes tell you which is which:

• 15AHP10 and 15AKP10: Legion 5 Gen 10 with AMD Ryzen. The A stands for AMD.
• 15IAX10 and 15IRX10: Legion 5i Gen 10 with Intel. The I stands for Intel. The IAX10 uses Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) HX chips; the IRX10 uses 13th or 14th Gen Intel Core HX chips.
• 15AHP11 and 15IAX11: the newer Gen 11 versions, AMD and Intel respectively.

When a listing on lenovo.com/sg only says Legion 5 or Legion 5i, check the full model code in the specifications tab. It tells you the processor family and which spec sheet to compare against.

Screens are the same choice on both. Lenovo lists a 15.1 inch OLED panel at 2560 x 1600, 165Hz, 500 nits typical and 1000 nits HDR peak with 100% DCI-P3 colour, and on some models a 15.3 inch IPS panel at 1920 x 1200, 165Hz and 300 nits with 100% sRGB. If you edit photos or watch a lot of HDR content, the OLED is the upgrade worth paying for, whichever processor you choose.

Memory and storage are upgrade friendly on both. Lenovo's spec sheets list two DDR5 SODIMM slots, dual channel, with up to 32GB offered, and the Legion 5 15AHP10 sheet lists two M.2 SSD slots. That means you can start with a lower configuration and add RAM or a second SSD later.

Lenovo Legion Singapore 2026: which models you will see

In Singapore in 2026 you are likely to see both Gen 10 and Gen 11 Legion 5 models on sale side by side. Lenovo's PSREF sheets for Gen 11 were updated in July to September 2026 and show clear battery gains: the Legion 5 15AHP11 is rated at 10.2 hours and the Legion 5i 15IAX11 at 9.6 hours on MobileMark 30 at 250 nits, per Lenovo. Both use an 80Wh battery.

Gen 11 details from Lenovo, at the time of writing:

• Legion 5 15AHP11 (AMD): AMD Ryzen 7 250 or Ryzen 7 253, 8 cores and 16 threads, GeForce RTX 5050, 5060 or 5070 at 115W, starting at 1.87 kg.
• Legion 5i 15IAX11 (Intel): Intel Core 7 245HX, Core Ultra 7 251HX or Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, GeForce RTX 5060 or 5070 at 115W, starting at 1.93 kg.

If a Gen 10 and a Gen 11 are close in price, the Gen 11 battery figures make it the stronger buy for anyone who works unplugged. If the Gen 10 is noticeably cheaper during a sale and you mostly play at a desk, the older model gives you the same 115W graphics tiers.

Timing helps too. The big Singapore shopping dates left in 2026 are 11.11 on Wednesday 11 November and 12.12 on Saturday 12 December. Lenovo runs its own promotions on lenovo.com/sg, and its coupon page says eCoupon codes are applied automatically at checkout when you add an eligible product to cart.

Lenovo student discount eligibility in Singapore (2026)

Lenovo's student programme in Singapore is Lenovo Education, open to verified students and educators. According to Lenovo's Singapore Education page at the time of writing, members get member-only pricing on Lenovo products, 4% in My Lenovo Rewards on purchases, and SG$10 in rewards when they sign up. Lenovo says the store has been used by over 1 million verified students and educators worldwide.

How eligibility works, based on Lenovo's page:

1. Register for free on the Lenovo Education page and give your student or educator details.
2. Get verified. Lenovo describes the programme as being for verified students and educators, so your status is checked before member pricing applies.
3. Sign in to shop. Member prices show when you are signed in to your Lenovo Education account.
4. Watch your email. Lenovo says a coupon code is sent by email after successful registration, with a minimum spend to use it.

Lenovo's page also mentions promotions on selected Legion models for education members, such as higher rewards. These change often, so check the Education page on the day you buy.

Lenovo official student discount terms

The official terms that matter most are the ones on the Lenovo Education page and the My Lenovo Rewards page, because student pricing and rewards points work together. Lenovo's Rewards page says the programme can be combined with specialised discounts for students, teachers, healthcare workers, seniors and first responders.

What Lenovo says about My Lenovo Rewards in Singapore, at the time of writing:

Term	According to Lenovo
Cost to join	Free
Points earned	Up to 9% of eligible purchases in points; no minimum purchase
Value of points	1,000 points equal one dollar
When points are usable	30 days after a regular order ships (14 days for Outlet orders)
Expiry	6 months after the points are issued

Read the coupon terms before you pay. Lenovo's welcome coupon for new education members carries a minimum spend, and promotions on specific Legion models have their own end dates. Codes and minimums change, so the Education page is the place to confirm the current version.

One thing to know before combining routes: at the time of writing, ShopBack's Lenovo page lists a separate rate tier for Lenovo's education online sale, but it also excludes purchases using discounts that lower the advertised price, including student education codes, and the portion of a payment made with My Lenovo Rewards points. So read the terms on ShopBack's Lenovo page for your exact order. If a code is involved, compare two numbers: the education price with the code, or the price through ShopBack Singapore without it, and pick the lower one.

Lenovo on ShopBack Singapore: the step before you pay

For Lenovo, as for merchants like Booking.com, Trip.com, Agoda and Expedia, going through ShopBack is an essential step before you check out, so you pay less on the same order. You buy the same Legion, from the same Lenovo store, and ShopBack Singapore returns cash on the eligible amount.

Cashback lowers what you actually pay for an order. It comes back as cash, so it works like a discount on the price, not like points or miles. That is the difference from My Lenovo Rewards points, which you can only spend at Lenovo.

How it works on a Legion order, following ShopBack's Lenovo page at the time of writing:

1. Open the Lenovo page on ShopBack Singapore in the ShopBack app or website.
2. Check the live rate and the terms for your purchase.
3. Tap through to lenovo.com/sg and finish the order on Lenovo's website in the same visit, not in the Lenovo app, since ShopBack's page lists app orders as excluded.
4. Avoid outside coupon codes not featured on ShopBack, Outlet Store purchases and orders placed through Lenovo's phone or chat sales team, which ShopBack's page also lists as excluded.

Your effective price is what you pay minus the cash ShopBack returns. As an illustrative example, on a S$2,000 Legion 5i at an illustrative 1%, S$20 comes back to your ShopBack account, so the effective price is S$1,980. The real rate is shown on the Lenovo page on ShopBack, so check it before you pay, because rates change.

Lenovo, credit card rewards and other offers

Card rewards and ShopBack can usually apply to the same Lenovo order, because card rewards come from your bank under its own terms, separately from ShopBack. Many Singapore cards give miles, points or rebates on online spend, but earn rates, monthly caps and merchant categories differ by card, and a gaming laptop can hit a monthly cap in one payment. Check your card's terms for online spend, and check the merchant's terms on ShopBack's Lenovo page before you pay. If you plan to pay part of the order with My Lenovo Rewards points, remember that portion is excluded on ShopBack at the time of writing.

Laptop stores on ShopBack: Lenovo, ASUS, HP and more

Other laptop stores Singapore shoppers compare with Lenovo, all with pages on ShopBack Singapore, include ASUS, HP, Samsung and Shopee Official Store. The habit is the same for each: start from the store's page on ShopBack, check the live rate and terms, then check out on the store's own website.

Buy the Legion 5 (AMD Ryzen) if you want longer unplugged battery life for school or work, and the Legion 5i (Intel Core) if you stream, edit video or compile code and want more processor cores, Thunderbolt 4 on some models and a wider choice of RTX 5070 configurations. Both share the same 15 inch chassis, screens and 115W GeForce RTX 50 series graphics in Lenovo's spec sheets.

What does the i in Legion 5i mean?

The i marks the Intel version. Lenovo sells the Legion 5 with AMD Ryzen processors and the Legion 5i with Intel Core processors. In Lenovo's model codes, an A after the screen size (15AHP10, 15AKP10) means AMD and an I (15IAX10, 15IRX10) means Intel.

Is the Legion 5 or 5i better for gaming?

For most games the graphics card matters more than the processor, and Lenovo's spec sheets list the same GeForce RTX 5050 and 5060 Laptop GPUs at 115W on both. The 5i adds RTX 5070 options on more models, so if you want the faster card, the 5i usually gives you more configurations to choose from.

Which has better battery life, Legion 5 or 5i?

In Lenovo's own tests, the AMD Legion 5 lasts longer. Lenovo's own MobileMark 30 figures with the 80Wh battery are 5.6 hours for the Legion 5 15AHP10 and 5.7 hours for the 15AKP10, against 4.4 hours for the Legion 5i 15IAX10 and 4.2 hours for the 15IRX10. Real use with gaming will be much shorter.

How heavy is the Lenovo Legion 5 and 5i?

Can I use ShopBack on a Lenovo Legion with a student discount?

At the time of writing, ShopBack's Lenovo page lists a separate rate tier for Lenovo's education online sale, but excludes discounts that lower the advertised price, including student education codes, and the portion paid with My Lenovo Rewards points. Read the terms for your exact order, and if a code is involved, compare the education price with the code against the price through ShopBack Singapore without it.

Can I use credit card rewards on a Lenovo order as well as ShopBack?

Usually, yes. Card rewards come from your bank under its own terms, separately from ShopBack, so the same Lenovo order can usually earn both. A laptop can hit a monthly cap on some cards, so check your card's terms and check the merchant's terms on ShopBack's Lenovo page before you pay.

Which other laptop stores can I shop through ShopBack Singapore?

Laptop and electronics stores on ShopBack Singapore include Lenovo, ASUS, HP, Samsung and Shopee Official Store. The habit is the same for each: start from the store's page on ShopBack, check the live rate and terms, then check out on the store's own website.

• Gen 11 models list close to double the rated battery life of Gen 10 in Lenovo's spec sheets, so compare the model code, not just the name.
• Students should check ShopBack's Lenovo terms for education orders and codes before paying; your effective price is what you pay minus the cash ShopBack returns.
