Is Dyson Cheaper in Malaysia Than in Singapore in 2026?
Is Dyson cheaper in Malaysia than in Singapore? Sometimes on the sticker, but warranty, GST on return and service usually decide it. Plus whether the V8, V11, V12, WashG1 and Submarine are still worth buying.
Is Dyson Cheaper in Malaysia Than in Singapore in 2026?
Sometimes the Dyson sticker price in Malaysia works out lower than in Singapore after you convert ringgit to dollars, but it is not reliably cheaper in 2026. Dyson runs separate country stores with their own prices and promotions. Once you add GST on goods above your import relief, the trip itself, and a warranty tied to the country of purchase, a Singapore sale price is often the better deal.
New to ShopBack? ShopBack Singapore is a free app and website. Start your shopping from ShopBack before you pay, and you get Cashback on your orders at stores such as Dyson Singapore. Join ShopBack Singapore for free, then open the Dyson page on ShopBack before you check out.
Is Dyson cheaper in Malaysia than in Singapore?
It depends on the model and the week, and the sticker price is only one part of the cost. Dyson sells through separate country websites, dyson.com.sg for Singapore and dyson.my for Malaysia, and each sets its own prices in local currency and runs its own promotions. A model can be cheaper across the Causeway one month and cheaper in Singapore the next.
Three things usually close the gap:
- Warranty. Dyson Singapore's warranty terms list use of a machine "for anything other than normal domestic household purposes in the country in which it was purchased" among the things the guarantee does not cover. A machine bought in Malaysia and used in Singapore may not be serviced under Dyson Singapore's guarantee.
- GST on the way back. According to Singapore Customs, travellers who spend 48 hours or more outside Singapore get GST import relief on goods worth up to S$500. Those away less than 48 hours get up to S$100. A typical day trip to Johor Bahru falls in the second group, so most of a Dyson's value would be taxable.
- Delivery. According to Dyson Singapore's delivery information, it delivers free within Singapore and does not deliver outside Singapore. Buying in Malaysia usually means carrying the box home yourself.
A fair way to compare a Dyson price in Malaysia and Singapore
- Match the exact model. Dyson sells several versions of the same family (Fluffy, Absolute, Slim, Detect). Compare the same version, colour and set of tools.
- Convert at the day's rate. Use the exchange rate you will actually pay on your card or at a money changer, not a rounded number.
- Add GST you may owe. Work out the value above your import relief and add GST at the prevailing rate.
- Add the trip. Transport, time and anything else you would not have spent.
- Count the warranty. A local guarantee is worth something on a machine you will use for years.
- Compare with the Singapore effective price. Take the Singapore checkout price and subtract the cash you get back by going through ShopBack Singapore before you pay.
GST when you bring a Dyson back from Malaysia
If the machine is worth more than your relief, you pay GST on the difference. Singapore Customs gives a worked example on its page: away 48 hours or more, the GST payable is the item value minus S$500, multiplied by the prevailing GST rate. Singapore Customs also says holders of a work permit, employment pass, student pass, dependant pass or long-term pass issued by the Singapore Government are not eligible for GST import relief. Using the item during the trip does not change this, according to the same page.
Voltage and the rating plate
Dyson Singapore's warranty terms also exclude damage "as a result of use not in accordance with the rating plate". Check the rating plate on any machine you buy overseas before you plug it in at home.
Is the Dyson V8 still worth buying?
Yes, for a smaller flat and quick daily cleans, the V8 is still a sensible buy in 2026. According to Dyson Singapore's product pages, the V8 gives up to 40 minutes of fade-free suction, 115 air watts of suction power and a 0.54 litre bin, and the V8 Slim weighs 2.1 kg with a 5 hour charge time.
What you give up is the newer tech: no dust detection screen, no laser head, and a shorter run time than the V11 and V12.
Two things to know before you buy one:
- Batteries wear out. Dyson Singapore's warranty terms list batteries among parts that wear over time and are not covered as normal wear and tear. Dyson sells replacement V8 batteries, so an older V8 can often be refreshed instead of replaced.
- Refurbished is an option. Dyson Singapore's outlet has listed refurbished V8 models with a 1-year warranty, against 2 years on new machines.
Dyson V12 or V8: which is better value?
The V8 is better value if you want the lowest price for a reliable cordless vacuum; the V12 Detect Slim is better value if you want longer run time and dust detection. Here is how they compare on Dyson Singapore's own specifications, with the V11 alongside:
| Dyson V8 | Dyson V11 Absolute | Dyson V12 Detect Slim | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suction power | 115 AW | 185 AW | 150 AW |
| Run time (up to) | 40 minutes | 60 minutes | 60 minutes |
| Bin volume | 0.54 L | 0.54 L | 0.35 L |
| Dust detection | No | Senses floor type | Laser head and particle counter |
The V12 Detect Slim uses a laser in the cleaner head to show dust you cannot normally see, and a piezo sensor that counts and sizes particles up to 15,000 times a second, according to Dyson's launch announcement. Results show on an LCD screen. The trade-off is the smaller bin, which means emptying more often in a dusty home.
Pick the V8 if the budget is tight, the home is small and you mostly do quick cleans. Pick the V12 if you have pets, allergies or dark floors where seeing the dust helps, and you want 60 minutes per charge.
Is the Dyson V11 still a good buy?
Yes, the V11 is still a good buy if you want strong suction and a large bin for a bigger home. Dyson Singapore lists the V11 Absolute at up to 60 minutes of run time, 185 air watts of suction, a 0.54 litre bin and 14 cyclones, and says it senses and adapts to all floor types.
It is an older design than the V12, and it is not the lightest choice for overhead cleaning. For a condo with rugs and a mix of floors, the V11's suction and bin size are its strengths. Like the V8, it has appeared in Dyson Singapore's refurbished outlet with a 1-year warranty.
Is the Dyson WashG1 worth it?
The WashG1 is worth it if your home is mostly hard floors and you mop several times a week. According to Dyson's launch announcement, it is Dyson's first dedicated wet floor cleaner. It has a 1 litre clean water tank that covers up to 290 square metres on a single charge, and a separate 0.8 litre dirty water tank.
What it does well, according to Dyson:
- Separates dirt from water. A 500 micron mesh debris tray catches hair and crumbs so they do not go into the dirty water tank.
- Two counter-rotating microfibre rollers fed by 26 hydration points, with low, medium and high water settings and a boost button for dried-on stains.
- Self-cleaning mode that flushes the rollers after each use.
It is not a vacuum. It washes hard floors. If you have rugs or carpet, you still need a cordless vacuum. For a typical HDB flat with tiles or vinyl throughout, the WashG1 can replace a mop and bucket.
Is the Dyson Submarine wet cleaner worth buying?
The Submarine is worth buying if you want one machine that vacuums and does light mopping. It is a wet roller head that comes with the Dyson V12s Detect Slim Submarine. According to Dyson's Singapore announcement, the head has a 300 ml clean water tank that covers up to 110 square metres, which Dyson describes as the size of an average 5-room HDB flat. It also has a 360 ml dirty water tank and eight water jets.
Choose the Submarine if storage is tight and you mop lightly once or twice a week. Choose the WashG1 if you wash floors often or have a larger space, since its clean water tank is more than three times the size.
Can I trade in my old Dyson for a new one?
Only when Dyson Singapore is running a trade-in promotion, and it is not an always-on programme. Dyson's own voucher terms have referred to "trade-in promotions", so they do happen, usually as limited-time offers. Check Dyson Singapore's deals page before you buy.
If there is no trade-in running, two other routes help:
- Replace the battery instead. Dyson sells replacement batteries for older models, which can give a tired V8 or V11 a second life.
- Buy refurbished. Dyson's outlet sells refurbished machines with a shorter warranty, which can bring the price down without a trade-in.
Dyson official deals in Singapore: where to look
Dyson's official deals in Singapore usually come in three forms: price cuts on older models, bundles with free tools or accessories, and the refurbished outlet. The places to check:
- Dyson Singapore's deals pages for current promotions and gift-with-purchase bundles.
- The Dyson Outlet for refurbished machines with a 1-year warranty.
- Big shopping dates. 11.11 falls on Wednesday 11 November 2026 and 12.12 on Saturday 12 December 2026. Many Singapore stores run sales around these dates, though what Dyson offers changes each year.
Other places Singapore shoppers compare home appliances include Shopee, Lazada and Amazon.sg, each with its own page on ShopBack Singapore.
Cheapest way to buy a Dyson in Singapore: money-saving tips
The cheapest way to buy a Dyson in Singapore is to compare the same model, time it around a sale, and go through ShopBack before you check out. In order:
- Decide which model you need. A V8 may do the job in a small flat, so you may not need a V12.
- Compare the same model code on Dyson Singapore and other stores you trust.
- Check the refurbished outlet if a 1-year warranty is enough for you.
- Wait for a sale date if you can, and check for bundles.
- Go through ShopBack Singapore before you pay, so the effective price drops.
- Pay with the card that suits the purchase (see the section on cards below).
Why ShopBack is a step before you buy a Dyson
Before you check out on Dyson Singapore, open ShopBack Singapore, tap the Dyson store and complete your order. It takes a few seconds and gets you Cashback on the same order. ShopBack is a post-purchase discount: go through it before you pay and the effective price drops.
Cashback lowers what you actually pay for an order. It comes back as cash, so it works like a discount on the price, not like points or miles. It is the same habit many Singapore travellers already have: for merchants like Booking.com, Trip.com, Agoda and Expedia, going through ShopBack is an essential step before you book or check out, so you pay less on the same booking or order.
The live rate is shown on the ShopBack Dyson page, so check it before you pay.
Dyson codes, card rewards and ShopBack: what works together
Card rewards and ShopBack usually both work on the same Dyson order, and no code is needed for Cashback.
- Dyson vouchers. No code is needed for Cashback: go through ShopBack before you pay. Cashback is a discount, just like a code, and it comes back as cash.
- Credit card rewards. Card rewards come from your bank and are separate from ShopBack. Whether a card earns on a Dyson order usually depends on its own rules, such as minimum spend, caps and which merchant types count. Check your card's terms before you pay.
Frequently asked questions
Is Dyson cheaper in Malaysia than in Singapore?
Sometimes the Malaysian sticker price works out lower after converting ringgit to Singapore dollars, but it is not reliably cheaper. Dyson runs separate country stores with their own prices and promotions, so the gap changes from week to week. Once you count GST on goods above your import relief, the trip, and warranty terms tied to the country of purchase, buying in Singapore during a sale is often the better deal.
Does a Dyson bought in Malaysia have warranty in Singapore?
Do not count on it. Dyson Singapore's warranty terms list use of a machine for anything other than normal domestic household purposes in the country in which it was purchased among the things the guarantee does not cover. Ask Dyson Singapore before you buy overseas if local service matters to you.
Do I pay GST on a Dyson bought in Malaysia?
You may. According to Singapore Customs, travellers away for 48 hours or more get GST import relief on goods worth up to S$500, and those away less than 48 hours get up to S$100. You pay GST on the value above your relief, and work permit, employment pass, student pass, dependant pass and long-term pass holders are not eligible for the relief.
Is the Dyson V8 still worth buying?
Yes, for a smaller flat and quick daily cleans. According to Dyson Singapore, the V8 gives up to 40 minutes of run time, 115 air watts of suction and a 0.54 litre bin. It does not have the dust sensing and laser features of newer models, so buy it for value, not for features.
Dyson V12 or V8: which is better value?
The V8 is better value if you want the lowest price for a reliable cordless vacuum. The V12 Detect Slim is better value if you want longer run time and dust detection: Dyson Singapore lists up to 60 minutes and 150 air watts for the V12, against up to 40 minutes and 115 air watts for the V8. The V12 bin is smaller, at 0.35 litres.
Is the Dyson V11 still a good buy?
Yes, if you want strong suction and a big bin. Dyson Singapore lists the V11 Absolute at up to 60 minutes of run time, 185 air watts and a 0.54 litre bin, and says it senses and adapts to floor types. It is heavier and older than the V12, so it suits larger homes more than quick top-ups.
Is the Dyson WashG1 worth it?
It is worth it if your home is mostly hard floors and you mop often. According to Dyson, the WashG1 is its first dedicated wet floor cleaner, with a 1 litre clean water tank that covers up to 290 square metres per charge and a separate 0.8 litre dirty water tank. It washes floors only, so you still need a vacuum for rugs.
Is the Dyson Submarine wet cleaner worth buying?
It suits a home that wants one machine for vacuuming and light mopping. Dyson says the Submarine wet roller head on the V12s Detect Slim Submarine has a 300 ml clean water tank that covers up to 110 square metres, about an average 5-room HDB flat, and a 360 ml dirty water tank. For large or very messy floors, a dedicated wet cleaner holds more water.
Can I trade in my old Dyson for a new one?
Only when Dyson Singapore is running a trade-in promotion, and it is not an always-on programme. Dyson's own voucher terms have referred to trade-in promotions, so they do happen. Check Dyson Singapore's deals page before you buy.
How do I pay less for a Dyson in Singapore?
Compare the same model code across stores, wait for a big sale date if you can, look at Dyson's refurbished outlet if a shorter warranty is fine, and go through ShopBack Singapore before you check out on Dyson Singapore so you get a post-purchase discount on the order.
Can I use a Dyson voucher and go through ShopBack on the same order?
No code is needed for Cashback: go through ShopBack before you pay. Start from the Dyson page on ShopBack Singapore, then check out on Dyson Singapore. Cashback is a discount, just like a code, and it comes back as cash.
