Sun PhuQuoc Airways

Sun PhuQuoc Airways is a Vietnamese full-service and leisure-leaning airline launched by Sun Group in October 2025, so compare fares, then book through ShopBack before you pay, where ShopBack Cashback works like a discount, only easier than a promo code. Commercial operations started the following month. It is the first Vietnamese airline named after an island (Phu Quoc), and operates on a hub-and-spoke network model positioning Phu Quoc as a primary gateway for international tourism into Vietnam. Sun Group is a Vietnamese conglomerate with core interests in tourism infrastructure, resorts (JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula), cable cars, and theme parks, so the airline sits inside a broader tourism ecosystem. Sun PhuQuoc Airways began launching international routes in Q2 2026, with Singapore on the inaugural international network alongside Busan, Bangkok and Hong Kong. The first international route out of Phu Quoc opened to Taipei on 29 March 2026. The Singapore route runs between Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) and Changi, giving Singapore travellers a direct route to Phu Quoc instead of connecting via Ho Chi Minh City on Vietjet or VietnamAirlines. Confirm the current schedule, frequency and aircraft type on the booking page before purchase.

For Singapore travellers heading to Phu Quoc specifically, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is the only direct-flight option out of Changi once the route stabilises; Vietjet and VietnamAirlines both route via Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi with a layover, and Scoot and AirAsia do not currently serve Phu Quoc direct from Singapore. For broader Vietnam itineraries (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Nha Trang), Vietjet and VietnamAirlines retain the deeper schedule and cheaper advance-purchase fares. Sun PhuQuoc Airways is positioned as a leisure-leaning carrier with Sun Group's resort ecosystem (JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, Premier Residences, Sun Paradise Land) baked into bundling options, which matters for travellers who want a one-stop air-plus-resort booking. For a deeper look, see Fly Singapore to Vietnam: Scoot, AirAsia, or VietJet in 2026.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways received its first aircraft in August 2025 and is on track to operate 32 aircraft by the end of 2026, scaling rapidly from its October 2025 launch. The fleet is narrow-body focused for the Q2 2026 international network, with wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft planned from September 2026 to extend long-haul capability. A billion-dollar order for 40 Boeing aircraft is placed for delivery from 2031, flagging the airline's long-term growth ambitions beyond the Southeast Asian regional network. The Singapore to Phu Quoc route is served on narrow-body equipment at launch.

Phu Quoc is Vietnam's largest island, located in the Gulf of Thailand off the southern tip of Vietnam. The island combines beach resort infrastructure (Long Beach, Sao Beach, Ong Lang) with mountain-and-jungle interior, cable car access to An Thoi archipelago on the Hon Thom cable car (one of the longest sea-crossing cable cars in the world), VinWonders amusement park, and night markets. For Singapore travellers, Phu Quoc has typically required a Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi connection, which Sun PhuQuoc Airways' direct route eliminates. Phu Quoc also offers 30-day visa-free entry for most ASEAN nationals including Singaporeans on tourism purposes.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways is positioned closer to a full-service carrier than a pure budget airline, with fare bundles that typically include a checked baggage allowance, in-flight catering on longer sectors, and seat selection on higher fare classes. Light fare bundles usually include cabin baggage only with checked bags added as an upgrade. Confirm the exact baggage allowance, meal inclusion and seat selection fees on the fare class selected at checkout. For leisure travellers routing to Phu Quoc with resort stays, the bundling model with Sun Group resort inventory (JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, Premier Residences) is a differentiator against Vietjet pure-ticket economics.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways change and cancellation terms depend on the fare class booked. Flexible fare bundles typically allow changes with a lower change fee or no change fee, with partial refund credit on cancellation up to a defined pre-departure window. Light and promotional fare bundles are typically non-refundable with higher change fees. Confirm the specific terms on the fare page at checkout before purchase. Trip cancellation protection via a travel insurance policy or credit card inclusion is the standard risk-mitigation pathway for non-refundable fares.

Singapore passport holders enjoy 30-day visa-free entry to Vietnam for tourism purposes under the ASEAN visa exemption, which covers Phu Quoc arrivals. Longer stays or non-tourism purposes may require a Vietnam e-visa or in-advance visa. The visa-free window resets per entry, so multi-entry trips over several months typically do not require a formal visa provided each individual stay sits within 30 days. Carry a passport with at least 6 months' validity and a return or onward ticket. Verify current Vietnam entry rules on the ICA or Vietnam embassy site before departure.
