Is iShopChangi Cheaper Than Changi Duty Free In-Store in 2026?
iShopChangi and Changi duty free in-store are usually run by the same airport retailers, so the shelf price is often similar. iShopChangi can work out cheaper in Singapore when an online promo code applies, when you pre-order for arrival, or when you go through ShopBack before you pay.
Is iShopChangi Cheaper Than Changi Duty Free In-Store in 2026?
Often the shelf price is close, because iShopChangi sells for the same Changi Airport retailers you walk past in the terminal, such as Shilla for beauty and Lotte Duty Free for liquor. In Singapore, iShopChangi tends to work out cheaper when an online promo code applies, when you pre-order up to 30 days ahead for departure or arrival, and when you go through ShopBack Singapore before you pay. iShopChangi itself says in-store promotions might differ from online ones.
ShopBack Singapore is a free shopping rewards app and website. You start from ShopBack, shop on the store's own site as usual, and part of what you spend comes back to you as cash. New here? Sign up to ShopBack Singapore, then open the iShopChangi page on ShopBack before your next pre-order.
Is iShopChangi cheaper than buying at the airport duty free?
There is no blanket answer, because the same retailers sell in both places and each runs its own promotions. iShopChangi's ordering FAQ names Shilla Duty Free (beauty and cosmetics) and Lotte Duty Free (liquor) as the retailers that can fulfil orders with only 12 hours' notice, and these are also the operators behind the beauty and liquor duty free shops in the terminals. So the base price of a bottle of whisky or a perfume is often similar online and in store.
Where the totals split apart is everything around the shelf price:
| What affects your final price | iShopChangi (online pre-order) | Changi duty free in-store |
|---|---|---|
| Tax treatment for departing travellers | GST and duty free, according to iShopChangi | Duty free in the transit area |
| Arriving travellers | GST and duty absorbed by a limited set of retailers | Arrival duty free shops, subject to your customs allowance |
| Promo codes | Yes, 1 code per transaction, with exclusions | In-store promotions run separately |
| Changi Rewards points | Earned above S$10 nett spend | Earned when you scan your card |
| ShopBack Singapore | Yes, through the iShopChangi store page | Not for walk-in shop purchases |
| Time pressure | Order 30 days to 12 hours ahead | Shop in the time you have before boarding |

A practical way to decide: if you know what you want, price it on iShopChangi a few days before your flight, apply any code you have, and note the total. Then check the same item in store on the day. If the in-store shop is running a promotion that beats your online total, buy there; otherwise collect your pre-order.
Changi duty free in Singapore in 2026: how it works
Changi duty free is the set of shops in the departure transit areas of Terminals 1 to 4, plus the arrival duty free shops, where travellers buy without paying Singapore's GST and duty. A few rules decide whether you actually get that price:
- Departing travellers shop in the transit area after immigration, or pre-order on iShopChangi and pick up at the Departure Collection Centre.
- Arriving travellers can buy liquor duty free only within the allowance set by Singapore Customs, which needs at least 48 hours spent outside Singapore and does not apply if you arrive from Malaysia.
- Non-travellers do not get duty free prices in the transit area, but there are two routes to lower prices on the ground and online, covered further down.
The Singapore duty free allowance for liquor
According to Singapore Customs at the time of writing, you can bring in duty free liquor if you are 18 or older, spent at least 48 hours outside Singapore, are not arriving from Malaysia, and the liquor is for your own use. You pick one option:
| Option | Spirits | Wine | Beer |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 1 litre | 1 litre | None |
| B | 1 litre | None | 1 litre |
| C | None | 1 litre | 1 litre |
| D | None | 2 litres | None |
| E | None | None | 2 litres |
Singapore Customs also says there is no duty free concession for cigarettes and tobacco, and that liquor above your option attracts duty and GST. This allowance is the same whether you buy online at iShopChangi or in the arrival shop, so it does not change which is cheaper. It does decide how much you can buy at the lower price.
How iShopChangi pre-ordering works, and why it can save money
iShopChangi lets you shop before you reach the airport and collect at the terminal. According to its ordering FAQ at the time of writing:
- Departure orders can be placed from 30 days to 12 hours before your flight leaves Changi.
- Arrival orders can be placed from 30 days to 12 hours before your flight lands. Passengers arriving from Malaysia cannot buy liquor, in line with the Singapore Customs quota.
- The 12-hour window applies only to Shilla Duty Free and Lotte Duty Free items. Every other retailer needs 24 to 72 hours.
- Collection opens 2 hours before departure, and iShopChangi recommends you collect at least 60 minutes before. The departure Collection Centres in all terminals run 24 hours daily.
- Bring your order confirmation, boarding pass and passport. Only the person who placed the order can collect it.
- If you cannot collect, iShopChangi says a full refund goes back to your original payment method within 10 working days.
The money saving comes from three things. You have days rather than minutes to compare, so you are less likely to pay full price in a rush at the gate. You can use an online code, and online codes may not apply at the shop counter. And you can open iShopChangi from ShopBack Singapore before you pay, which lowers the effective price of the order.
For arrivals there is a convenience saving too: you do not carry bottles through your outbound trip or your flight home, since the order waits for you in the arrival hall.
Money-saving tips for iShopChangi in Singapore in 2026
- Pre-order early for non-Shilla, non-Lotte brands. Other retailers need 24 to 72 hours, so a last-minute order may not be possible.
- Log in with your Changi account. iShopChangi says you earn Changi Rewards points on purchases above S$10 nett spend.
- Check the code exclusions first. iShopChangi's promotions FAQ says standard codes exclude a list of brands and selected products, including some luxury labels and premium whiskies.
- Use one code per order. Only 1 code works per transaction, and it is single use per customer.
- Compare the delivery threshold if you are not flying. For items shipped by iShopChangi, standard delivery is free from S$75 nett and S$5.90 below that, and promo codes cannot be used on the delivery fee.
- Go through ShopBack before every order. Each new order needs a fresh visit from the iShopChangi page on ShopBack Singapore.
iShopChangi official deals and Changi Rewards
The official savings come from Changi Airport Group itself.
Changi Rewards. Membership is free. According to Changi Airport's Changi Rewards FAQ at the time of writing, earn rates by tier are:
| Tier | Accumulated nett spend to qualify | Earn rate | Rebate Changi Airport quotes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Member | No minimum | S$10 = 10 points | 0.5% |
| Gold | S$4,000 | S$10 = 20 points | 1% |
| Platinum | S$8,000 | S$10 = 60 points | 3% |
Points apply both online and in store, so they do not tip the iShopChangi versus in-store question either way. They do make it worth logging in every time.
GST-absorbed shopping in the public areas. Changi Rewards members get 9% GST absorbed at participating outlets in the public areas of Terminals 1 to 4 when they scan their card. Changi Airport's worked example: a S$100 item includes S$8.26 of GST, so you pay S$91.74. This is useful if you are not flying but are at the airport anyway.
Non-traveller pricing on iShopChangi. iShopChangi says wines and spirits retailed by Lotte are GST and duty absorbed for non-travellers, and some other retailers also sell at GST-absorbed prices.
Campaigns and codes. iShopChangi lists promotions on its site and in the Changi App. Read each campaign page, since terms such as eligible brands and minimum spend sit there.
Credit card rewards and offers on iShopChangi in 2026
Card offers on iShopChangi run on their own terms, and iShopChangi's promotions FAQ says bank and payment gateway promotions do not apply to payments made through ShopBack Pay, Google Pay or Apple Pay unless the campaign says otherwise. If a card promotion is the reason you are buying, pay with the card the campaign names.
Can you combine card rewards, Changi Rewards and ShopBack on iShopChangi?
In many cases you can earn your card's rewards, Changi Rewards points and ShopBack on the same iShopChangi order, because your bank, Changi Airport and ShopBack each pay on their own rules. Check the merchant's terms before you count on all three: your card's terms on online spend, the Changi Rewards rules, and the terms on the iShopChangi page on ShopBack, including how codes and vouchers are treated.
How ShopBack Singapore works with iShopChangi in 2026
For stores like iShopChangi, just as for Booking.com, Trip.com, Agoda and Expedia, going through ShopBack is an essential step before you check out, so you pay less on the same order.
- Clear your iShopChangi cart and close the iShopChangi app.
- Log in to ShopBack and open the iShopChangi page on ShopBack Singapore.
- Check the live rate and which categories qualify on that page.
- Tap through to iShopChangi and complete the purchase in the same visit.
- If payment fails, restart from ShopBack rather than retrying in the same tab.
ShopBack is a post-purchase discount: go through it before you pay and the effective price drops. ShopBack cashback lowers what you actually pay for an order. It comes back as cash, so it works like a discount on the price, not like points or miles.
Here is a worked example with an illustrative rate, not iShopChangi's actual rate:
| Step | Amount |
|---|---|
| iShopChangi departure pre-order | S$200.00 |
| Illustrative rate | 5% |
| Comes back through ShopBack | S$10.00 |
| Effective price | S$190.00 |
Check the live rate on the store's ShopBack page before you buy, because rates and eligible categories change. A walk-in purchase at an airport shop has no ShopBack step, which is one reason a pre-order can end up with the lower effective price even when the shelf price is the same.
Other stores Singapore shoppers compare
For beauty, fragrance and spirits, Singapore shoppers often compare iShopChangi with Sephora, Lazada, Shopee and Zalora. Tax treatment and delivery terms differ, so compare the final total, then start from ShopBack on the store you pick.
