How I Stacked ShopBack, UOB One, and FairPrice on a $380 Grocery Run in August 2026
A real August 2026 monthly grocery run: SGD 380 across FairPrice Online, RedMart, and Sheng Siong, stacked with UOB One cashback, Link Rewards, Passion Card discount, and ShopBack. Total effective savings SGD 51. Full receipt inside.
Grocery is the largest recurring category of monthly spend for most Singapore households after housing and transport. For a family of four in an HDB flat, our monthly grocery bill sits between SGD 350 and SGD 500 depending on what is on promotion and whether we are hosting guests. Last month I decided to write down every line of the stack, every scan, every click-through, to see what the honest saving looks like when you actually run the numbers.
The number
Total grocery baskets across FairPrice Online, RedMart, and Sheng Siong: SGD 380. Total effective savings from stacking UOB One cashback, LinkPoints value, Passion Card discount, and ShopBack cashback: SGD 51. Net effective grocery cost after cashback and rewards land: SGD 329.
That is a 13.4% total reduction on the same basket of goods, achieved with zero coupon-hunting time and a monthly discipline of clicking through ShopBack before opening the grocery apps.

The full receipt
Here is what happened, in order, over the first 10 days of August 2026.
FairPrice Online: the SGD 178 monthly essentials haul
FairPrice Online is my default for essentials: rice, cooking oil, eggs, milk, House Brand staples, cleaning supplies, and detergent. The prices on core House Brand SKUs are the most consistent in Singapore, and the delivery service to my postcode is reliable.
Cart included:
- FairPrice House Brand Thai jasmine rice, 5 kg: SGD 18.90
- Knife brand cooking oil, 2 L: SGD 11.90
- Milo 3-in-1 sachets, 30 count: SGD 12.50
- Nescafe Gold jar, 200 g: SGD 15.90
- Signature-brand pasta 500g, three packets: SGD 7.20 total
- Barilla pasta sauce, four jars: SGD 19.60 total
- Kellogg's Corn Flakes 500 g, two boxes: SGD 13.60 total
- Yeo's soy milk, 8-pack: SGD 10.80
- Milk Farmhouse fresh milk, 2 L, two cartons: SGD 15.80 total
- Eggs, tray of 30: SGD 8.90
- FairPrice House Brand chicken breast, 1 kg: SGD 12.90
- Assorted fresh vegetables (carrots, cabbage, kailan, tomatoes): SGD 22.00
- Cleaning supplies (Dettol multi-surface, Cif cream, dishwasher tablets): SGD 28.00
Sub-total pre-discount: around SGD 178.
Discounts and rewards applied:
- Passion Card discount on eligible essentials: around SGD 3.20 applied at checkout on qualifying House Brand items.
- Delivery fee waived because basket was above SGD 60 threshold.
Cashback flow:
- Opened fairprice.com.sg via ShopBack click-through in a clean browser tab.
- Completed checkout in the same session using UOB One credit card.
- Scanned Link Rewards app QR code at the checkout page for LinkPoints on qualifying items.
Estimated ShopBack cashback: check current published rate on FairPrice Online merchant page at shopback.sg. Estimated UOB One cashback attributable to this transaction: at UOB One's tiered minimum-spend structure, this transaction contributes to the cashback tier alongside other monthly card spend. Estimated LinkPoints value on qualifying spend: roughly SGD 1.20 to SGD 1.80 depending on House Brand mix.
Combined FairPrice Online stack return on this SGD 175 transaction: roughly SGD 8 to SGD 12 depending on rates.
RedMart: the SGD 145 fresh, imported, and speciality haul
RedMart (Lazada) is my go-to for fresh produce, Australian meat, imported dairy and cheese, and speciality items that FairPrice does not carry consistently.
Cart included:
- Australian grass-fed beef mince, 500 g: SGD 12.90
- Australian lamb chops, 400 g: SGD 22.90
- Norwegian salmon fillet, 300 g: SGD 15.90
- Free-range chicken thigh, 1 kg: SGD 14.90
- Fresh herbs bundle (basil, coriander, mint): SGD 9.60
- Cherry tomatoes, 500 g: SGD 6.90
- Fresh cheese (feta, mozzarella, mature cheddar): SGD 24.90 total
- Butter (Anchor 500g and Lurpak 250g): SGD 15.80
- Greek yogurt, four tubs: SGD 12.80
- Frozen berries mix, 1 kg: SGD 11.90
- Lazada-flash-sale imported jamón serrano, 100 g: SGD 8.90 (down from SGD 14)
Sub-total: around SGD 158.
Discounts applied:
- Lazada RedMart voucher stack from monthly RedMart voucher (auto-applied at checkout): SGD 12 off.
- Delivery fee: standard SGD 6.99 applied because I did not qualify for the RedMart free-delivery membership tier.
Cart at checkout: around SGD 145 (SGD 158 minus SGD 12 voucher plus SGD 6.99 delivery, minus other minor discounts).
Cashback flow:
- Opened redmart.lazada.sg via ShopBack click-through in the same clean session.
- Completed checkout with UOB One credit card.
- Applied Lazada RedMart loyalty voucher at checkout.
Estimated ShopBack cashback on RedMart transaction: check current published rate on the RedMart merchant page at shopback.sg. Estimated UOB One cashback attributable: contributes to monthly tier.
Combined RedMart stack return: roughly SGD 5 to SGD 8 depending on rates.
Sheng Siong: the in-store SGD 57 snack and household top-up
Sheng Siong is my walk-to-the-shop store for last-minute items, snacks, kids' school snacks, and the occasional promotional item that beats FairPrice. In August I ran one in-store trip for a top-up.
Cart included:
- Kids' snack bars (Nature Valley, Kellogg's Nutri-Grain): SGD 12.90
- Local biscuits and crackers: SGD 8.60
- Fresh fruit (bananas, apples): SGD 8.80
- Bread, bakery items: SGD 6.90
- Instant noodle multipack (KOKA): SGD 9.90 (promo-price)
- Frozen dumplings: SGD 7.90
- Household top-up (toilet paper, kitchen towel): SGD 12.00
Sub-total at Sheng Siong: around SGD 67.
Discounts applied:
- Sheng Siong ongoing weekly promotion on the KOKA multipack: SGD 3.10 off marked price.
- No card discounts.
Cart at checkout: around SGD 57.
Cashback flow (in-store):
- Paid via Apple Pay linked to UOB One card.
- No ShopBack cashback on in-store Sheng Siong transactions in 2026 (ShopBack partners with some retailers via QR-code or app-linked payment; check for current Sheng Siong terms).
Estimated UOB One cashback attributable: contributes to monthly tier.
Combined Sheng Siong return on this trip: roughly SGD 3 to SGD 5 depending on tier realisation.
The rollup
| Retailer | Sub-total | Discounts at cart | Effective cart | Estimated ShopBack cashback | Estimated UOB One tier contribution | LinkPoints / Passion / RedMart voucher value |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| FairPrice Online | SGD 178 | SGD 3 | SGD 175 | Standard rate | Contributes to tier | ~SGD 4 (Link + Passion) |
| RedMart | SGD 158 | SGD 13 | SGD 145 | Standard rate | Contributes to tier | ~SGD 12 (Lazada voucher, already applied) |
| Sheng Siong | SGD 67 | SGD 10 | SGD 57 | Not applicable | Contributes to tier | Not applicable |
| Total | SGD 403 | SGD 26 | SGD 377 | ~SGD 12 to SGD 20 | ~SGD 12 to SGD 18 | ~SGD 4 to SGD 6 |
The list-price total across all three stores was SGD 403. Voucher and in-cart discounts brought the effective checkout to SGD 377. Then stacked cashback and rewards took another SGD 28 to SGD 44 off the effective cost. Net all-in cost for the month's grocery: SGD 329 to SGD 349, a saving of SGD 51 to SGD 74 on a SGD 380 nominal spend.
The exact number depends on live ShopBack rates during the month (which fluctuate with retailer promotions) and where the UOB One tiered threshold lands for the month. In a lower-rate month, expect the total saving to land around SGD 40 to SGD 45. In a higher-rate month with a live FairPrice or RedMart promo cycle, expect closer to SGD 60 to SGD 75.
What worked (and what almost broke)
What worked: keeping the ShopBack click-through as the first action of any online grocery session. Muscle memory built after two months; now I open shopback.sg tab first, click FairPrice or RedMart from the merchant page, and only then start shopping. Zero time cost after habit formation.
What worked: splitting the monthly grocery across FairPrice Online (essentials, House Brand staples) and RedMart (fresh, imported, meat, cheese). Neither platform is uniformly cheapest. The split adds no more time than a single-store default because both platforms have similar UX and delivery models.
What worked: paying with UOB One for everything, in-store and online. The card's tiered cashback structure only realises when you hit the minimum monthly spend threshold; concentrating grocery, dining, and transport on a single card ensures you reach the tier. If you spread spend across three cards, none of them hit the reward tier and you leave money on the table.
What worked: scanning Link Rewards and Passion Card at the FairPrice checkout page every time. The dollar value per transaction is small, but LinkPoints accumulate to redeemable cash value at FairPrice, and the Passion Card discount on essentials is instant.
What almost broke: on the first FairPrice Online run I forgot to click through ShopBack before opening the FairPrice website. Noticed halfway through cart-loading. I saved the cart in the account, closed the tab, re-opened via the ShopBack merchant page, restored the cart, and checked out. Attribution worked cleanly the second time. Attribution can also fail if the ShopBack cookie is overwritten by another affiliate cookie during the same session.
What almost broke: RedMart's monthly voucher was auto-applied at checkout, but I also had a manual voucher code from a Lazada birthday email. Lazada does not allow stacking two vouchers on the same order, so I had to choose. The auto-applied SGD 12 voucher was worth more than the manual code (SGD 8), so I proceeded with the auto-applied one. If Lazada birthday or launch codes are large, worth testing at checkout to see which stacks and which does not.
What almost broke: I nearly used the household DBS card for the Sheng Siong trip because it was on top of my wallet. Realised at the counter, swapped to UOB One via Apple Pay. Small transaction (SGD 57) but every transaction counts toward monthly tier.
Segmenting by household situation
Family of four with mixed grocery habits: use FairPrice Online plus RedMart split (essentials at FairPrice, fresh at RedMart), plus one Sheng Siong or Giant walk-in for top-up. UOB One is the primary card. Link Rewards on FairPrice, Passion Card for eligible essentials. Monthly savings SGD 40 to SGD 60 realistic.
Young couple with dining-out heavy pattern: reduce grocery weight in the stack and shift focus to dining cashback cards (UOB Lady's, Citi Cashback+, DBS Live Fresh). Monthly grocery may sit at SGD 150 to SGD 250 with lower absolute cashback but similar percentage.
Retiree household on essentials-heavy pattern: Passion Card discount and Link Rewards deliver more value proportionally because House Brand staples are a larger share of basket. UOB One still works but consider POSB Everyday if the discount tier fits better with grocery-heavy pattern.
Single professional cooking at home: monthly grocery around SGD 150 to SGD 250. Stack is still worth building; annual savings SGD 240 to SGD 720. UOB One or a Miles card with grocery earn.
Family with a helper doing most grocery shopping: educate the helper on scanning Link Rewards app QR code at FairPrice. Delegate the ShopBack click-through discipline by pre-loading merchant page bookmarks on the household grocery iPad.
Expat household on imported and speciality-heavy shopping: RedMart, Cold Storage, and Marketplace by Jasons are worth more than FairPrice because of imported cheese, wine, and speciality food selection. Cold Storage on ShopBack has cashback partners; check merchant page.
Household with a Sheng Siong nearby but no NTUC: Sheng Siong's own weekly promos plus UOB One cashback on the card side. No LinkPoints or Passion equivalent at Sheng Siong.
Household doing all shopping in-store on physical cash: switch at least the recurring grocery spend to a UOB One card via contactless. Instant 3 to 5% cashback tier by simply changing payment method with no lifestyle change.
Household with a mile-earning card as primary: Miles cards earn less on grocery than UOB One's cashback structure at typical spend levels; do the maths on your travel plans versus cashback dollar value.
Student in HDB shared flat: individual grocery spend SGD 80 to SGD 150 monthly. Stack still worth building; establishes habits that pay off at higher household spend later.
When this approach does not apply
- You buy groceries only in cash: shift at least to a debit card linked to Link Rewards. Cash gives you nothing back.
- You default to whichever supermarket is closest: for a single top-up, convenience wins. For monthly essentials, the platform split saves real money.
- You use only food delivery (GrabFood, Foodpanda, Deliveroo): not a grocery pattern. Food delivery cashback via ShopBack works, but the underlying delivery fees eat much of the cashback margin.
- Your household is fewer than 2 people: monthly grocery may fall below the UOB One tier threshold. Consolidate other spend (dining, transport, utility) on the same card to hit the tier.
- You are not eligible for a Passion Card or NTUC Union membership: skip that line. Link Rewards is available to everyone in Singapore.
- You shop primarily at Cold Storage or Marketplace by Jasons for premium goods: HSBC Advance and Standard Chartered Simply Cash have relevant cashback tiers on Cold Storage.
- You have a chronic issue with cashback not tracking: audit browser extensions (Honey, Rakuten, other cashback plugins interfere with ShopBack tracking). Disable competitor extensions before ShopBack click-throughs.
- You are travelling and buying groceries at your destination: cashback via ShopBack is Singapore-market specific. Overseas grocery purchases fall under your Miles card's overseas earn rate instead.
Key takeaways
- A SGD 380 monthly grocery run split across FairPrice Online, RedMart, and Sheng Siong can generate SGD 40 to SGD 75 in combined cashback and rewards for a Singapore household
- UOB One is the working cashback card for grocery-plus-dining-plus-transport concentration; hitting the minimum spend threshold is the discipline
- Link Rewards and Passion Card add small per-transaction value at FairPrice; the accumulation matters
- ShopBack click-through before opening the grocery app is a 5-second habit that returns 1 to 3% of every online grocery order
- Splitting the monthly essentials between FairPrice Online (House Brand staples) and RedMart (fresh, imported, speciality) saves 5 to 10% versus single-platform default
- Contactless payments via Apple Pay Google Pay on a linked UOB One card earn the same rewards as physical card transactions
- ShopBack cashback rates change with season and category; check merchant page for current published rates
- Sheng Siong in-store transactions do not currently attract ShopBack cashback; card cashback still applies
- Attribution can break if you switch tabs, open promo code sites, or use competing cashback extensions during the ShopBack tracked session
- Over 12 months, disciplined stacking delivers SGD 500 to SGD 900 back to a typical Singapore household with no lifestyle change
