What To Do On National Day (And The Weekend) to Siam the Crowd
9th August, possibly the most important holiday of the year in Singapore, is also possibly the most crowded and sweaty with Singaporeans gathering and squeezing around Marina Bay to catch a glimpse of the National Day Parade and fireworks.

This is for all you coffee lovers out there! Happening over the National Day weekend, the Singapore Coffee Festival is back for the second time this year. Organised by The Straits Times and presented by DBS Bank, there are many of our favourite coffee roasters and cafés already included in the line-up like Common Man Coffee Roasters and Huggs Coffee. This festival is also a great chance to discover new coffee shops that you may not have never heard of as well.
Standard tickets are going for SGD$22 but luckily for The Straits Times subscribers and DBS/POSB card holders, you can purchase the tickets at a discounted price of SGD$18. If not, we recommend you to go in groups of 4 or more so you get the tickets at a cheaper price!
Besides just sampling coffee, they also have many programmes in store such as workshops and talks for baristas and coffee enthusiasts.

Enjoy a gastronomic experience with local and retro food and snacks from the past, and stretch your dollar as you bargain and sieve through items at their flea market! If you’ve got young ones, you would be delighted to know that there are fun carnival games, bouncy castles, and even trampolines! Furthermore, all proceeds from this carnival will go to needy kidney patients. Show your Singapore Spirit by helping fellow Singaporeans this National Day!

Where else better to celebrate and get in the mood for National Day than having a picnic at the stadium where many past National Day Parades were held?

Many Singaporeans are familiar with the term café hopping. This National Day, go house hopping and listen to the stories of Singaporeans just like you and me! As part of the Singapore International Festival of Art 2017, visit the homes of strangers and listen to the interesting stories of their lives. Some homes that are open to visitors include the home of Rukhsana Vasanwala, who runs one of Singapore’s most famous cooking schools from the comfort of her home, Danny, who lives with his dementia-stricken mother, and Isabelle and Suresh, two biologists who will give a biology lecture and play a Spanish guitar piece in the garden.

Organised by YMCA, travel with fellow adventurous mountain trekkers and celebrate National Day by sticking our flag on the summit of the volcano.
