For this year’s World Cup, there are a few good teams that will make you sit up and take note. These teams are rather well supported due to the high profile of the players, attractive style of play and their achievements in football. If you happen to be throwing a World Cup viewing party, you can consider serving up some food from that country to add to the experience.

1. Germany – Fifa World Cup 2018 Defending Champions

First on this list is the defending champions Germany. Historically, Germany had a lot of success in the World Cup having won it 4 times. In 2014, they made history by becoming the first team from Europe to lift the World Cup in the Americas. In addition, they are the only country where both the Men’s and Women’s teams have won the World Cup. This year, Germany is set to make a strong defense of their title. With the spine of the 2014 team still in the squad, the German team has loads of experience and a strong winning mentality. Although they may not have that stand out star, the German team more than makes up for it in tactics and spirit.

The next team on this list to watch is Brazil. Brazil has the record of having that won the World Cup the most times (1958, 1962, 1970 and 2002 and are the only country that has qualified for every world cup in existence. Nicknamed the Seleção (Selection), the Brazil team is traditionally known for their ‘Joga Bonito’ (Play Beautiful) style of play. This year, the Brazil team are considered the bookmakers’ favorites to win the World Cup. Aside from the individual quality of their players from the likes of superstars like Neymar, Gabriel Jesus, and Marcelo. Brazil has their coach Adenor Leonardo Bacchi or Tite which is the name that is more commonly used. Tite is known for his no-nonsense style with his teams renowned for their defensive prowess. Under him, Brazil tore up the  FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifiers and beating their classic rivals Argentina 3-0 during the campaign. Brazil is shaping up to be quite the force in this World Cup. Coupled with their attractive style of play, many will be drawn to them.

To party with the Seleção, you can consider getting a bottle of Cachaca 51 from Honestbee. The drink itself is considered Brazil’s national spirit that is distilled from fermented sugarcane juice.  With an alcohol percentage of 40-percent, most Brazilians use it to make Caipirinha, a delicious cocktail made with cachaça, ice, sugar, and lime.

3. Spain

In terms of Spain’s history in the world cup, the country has only won the world cup once in 2010. However, in their own backyard, they are especially dominant having won 10 European Championships and breezing through the World Cup qualifiers in Europe. This year, their chances of winning the World Cup are good but there are some questions over new manager Julen Loptegui. Despite having a talented squad of world-class players like David De Gea, Sergio Ramos, Sergio Busquets and Isco; their manager Julen Loptegui is still rather inexperienced. Loptegui has not won any major honors as a manager and has chosen to drop experienced stars like Pedro, Csec Fàbregas, and Javi Martínez.

Another team to watch is the France national team. This year, they are many people’s favorites for the World Cup due to the staggering amount of talent they have in their squad. Having won the tournament only once as hosts in 1998, they are not as decorated as Brazil or Germany and have lots to prove. From back to front, France has great young talents like Hugo Loris, Raphael Varane, Samuel Umtiti, Benjamin Mendy, Kylian Mbappe and the mercurial Paul Pogba. Their depth is so absurd that they can even afford to leave out exciting talents like Anthony Martial and Kingsley Coman. However, without a clear playing philosophy, France has often struggled against the smaller teams. Regardless, France is set to light up the World Cup in Russia and would be a good team to follow.

Last but certainly not the least on this list is the Belgium national team which has a historical rivalry with Spain. Having played them for many times in international competition between 1905 to 1967; there is no love lost. Similar to their French counterparts, Belgium has a lot of exciting young talent that is unproven on the World Cup stage. The likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Lukkaku and Eden Hazard are great players that will add a lot to any side. However, their manager Roberto Martinez is unproven at this level and has left out Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan out of the squad. It remains to be seen how well Belgium might perform but it certainly won’t be boring watching them play.
