1. Shop in GBP, not Singapore Dollars
Who doesn’t like it when an international site shows prices in our beloved Singapore Dollar? It’s so convenient because you don’t have to Google the prevailing exchange rate and figure out the price!
But here’s what the Internet tells us: if you’ve been shopping in SGD all this time, you’ve been paying extra! Shopping on ASOS in its native GBP is cheaper than in SGD even after credit card conversion fees.
This pair of Park Lane boots cost S$51.72, but if you switch to GBP, it’s only £24 (S$43)! That’s a 20% difference!
Even after you factor in a credit card conversion fee of 2-3%, you’ll still save nearly $8 — more than enough for that cup of Starbucks.
2. Look out for sales and discount codes
How can you stay up to date with sales? Sign up for ASOS’s mailing list! They often send newsletters with the latest sales and discount codes.
And new in! If you’re a student, ASOS rewards you with a personal 10% discount code that you can use until you graduate.
If you make your ASOS orders through ShopBack, you can also get 3.5% cashback on your purchase.
3. Pay with credit cards with online shopping rebates
If you own a Visa debit or credit card, enjoy upsized Visa cashback from ShopBack all year long!
4. Use filters and display options
ASOS has thousands of products. Make your search easier by using the filters in the right sidebar. You can narrow down your options by categories, cut, brand, price, size and colour — just to name a few.
After you’re done, head to the drop-down display options menu above the products to organise your options. ‘Price low to high’ is great for budget shoppers, while ‘What’s New’ will show you what’s trending.
If you’re a frequent ASOS shopper, filter out the old products you’ve already seen before by heading to the ‘New In’ and ‘Back in Stock’ pages and start shopping there!
5. Read the product information ASOS gives
One big problem with online shopping: you can’t try on the products you are buying! ASOS offers free international returns, which is a load off our minds, but it’d be even better if we can avoid that hassle altogether.
ASOS provides a whole lot of product information, so make use of it to pick the best product and size for you.
First, always go to the product listing — it’s more detailed than ‘Quick View’.
Most products are modelled, so look at the model’s stats and the size she’s wearing. For example, if you’re 1.55m tall and don’t like long skirts, you’ll probably get a smaller size or simply not get the skirt at all.
The catwalk video can also be very helpful in showing how a shirt or dress falls when you’re moving, or the size of a bag in proportion to a human body.
6. Use ASOS’s ‘Save for Later’ button
ASOS always has sales, so if it’s too expensive for you right now, hit the ‘Save for Later’ button. It’s the little heart shape beside the Add to Cart button.
You can save items for up to 60 days, and keep checking the price and stock of your saved items. After all, we all know that a 50% off sale is often followed by a 70% off Final Reduction sale!
7. Take advantage of ASOS’s Price Promise policy
See something cheaper after you press buy? No problem. ASOS has a Price Promise policy on non-ASOS brand items.
What this means is if you see a non-ASOS product available on ASOS available elsewhere for cheaper, you can contact ASOS and they will provide you with a discount code so you can get the same price on ASOS.
If you’ve already bought your product, they’ll provide a discount code you can use with your next purchase.*
